No longer must you configure complicated settings to achieve accuracy in certain areas while compromising others. With ASN, your skies will be accurate, smooth, visually stunning and uncompressed. Realistic radar simulation, cloud position awareness and synchronized ambient effects, brand new air effects, brand new thunderstorm depictions, microbursts, thick overcast, smooth cloud transitions, variable cloud areas, voice weather briefings and forecast data integration are just some of the features that await you!
Happy flying! Thanks.Active Sky Next, the most widely used weather engine for PC flight simulation, provides an entirely new level of realism to your FSX: Steam Edition experience! Advanced technologies enable incredible levels of accuracy and smoothness. Once you are on the field you will "see" the current weather conditions. You will still get an error but ignore it. Set up your other conditions and choose "Active Weather". Now go to Steam, insert your aircraft type, go to flight plan and loan the saved flight plan. At the bottom of the Active Sky App it will say "Waiting for Simulator" until you fully start Steam then it will turn green and you are good to go. Note: you have to select a cruising altitude to get this to work. A flight plan will be created when you select a drop down that is over on the right. Pick a suitable departure ICAO within your desired distance from your destination and then enter the arrival ICAO you selected in your search. The go to the original screen of Active Sky and select the "Flight Plan" button located at the top. Double click on the ICAO that you want for your destination. NOTE: This MUST be opened PRIOR to starting Steam up! At the top of Active Sky Next go to "Search" and put in any weather conditions you are interested in flying in. Most important is right click on the ASNext.exe file and create a shortcut for your desktop. First read the "read me text file" as it will help somewhat.
Once downloaded, go to your "C\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\DLC\364340".
To do what I did you MUST purchase Active Sky download on Steam. WX works better than the old active download of Jeppesen. Originally posted by mymichael:Non-Geek figured this out.
